    RECRUITMENT USE CASE

    Consultants and the Candidate

Recruitment is a telephone business. A consultant's day is candidate calls, client calls, references, offers relayed and counter-offers talked down — most of it from a mobile, between meetings, and most of it on a personal number.

Candidates screen numbers they do not recognise, clients save the consultant rather than the agency, and the whole relationship book lives in one person's pocket. This use case sets out what changes when the agency's line sits on the phone the consultant already carries.

    Solution Highlights

    • Calls candidates recognise and answer
    • The desk owns the relationship, not the pocket
    • Offers and rates agreed by phone, on record
    • Temp desk covered out of hours by routing

    The Challenge

The first problem is getting answered. A candidate mid-job-hunt screens every unknown mobile, and a consultant ringing from a personal number is indistinguishable from a nuisance call — so the placement race is lost at the first ring.

The second is who owns what. Candidates and clients save the consultant's number, not the agency's, and when the consultant moves on — often to a competitor — the book goes too. And when a rate, an offer or a start date agreed by phone is disputed, the agency has nothing to check.

    The Solution

Each consultant carries a business line on their own handset, delivered by eSIM and dialled from the phone's own dialler — no app between a consultant and a candidate who has finally picked up. Calls and texts show the agency's number, the one candidates have seen on the advert and clients have on the terms.

The line is an extension of the agency's phone system, so the relationship belongs to the desk. A client calling back reaches whoever covers the account today; a temp desk's out-of-hours line rings the consultant on call rather than whoever last gave a number out; a leaver's line is reassigned to their successor the same morning.

And the conversations that carry the business — the rate, the offer, the counter-offer, the reference — sit on the platform's record, retrievable when a placement is disputed or a fee is challenged.

    What Changes

The first change is answer rates. A recognisable agency number gets picked up where an anonymous mobile does not, and in a placement race the answered call wins.

The second is ownership. Candidate and client relationships settle on numbers the agency controls, so a resignation stops being a transfer of the book to a competitor.

The third is the record. What was agreed by phone — rates, offers, start dates — becomes something the agency can check rather than argue about.

    Consultants and the Candidate

    Key Changes

    • Candidate calls answered on the first attempt
    • The book stays with the desk, not the leaver
    • Phone-agreed terms retrievable afterwards
    • One phone per consultant, nothing extra

    Assessment

Nine questions about your own agency. The ones you can't answer are the ones worth looking into.

    How it works today

    • What number does a candidate see when a consultant rings?
    • Whose number do your top twenty clients have saved?
    • What happens to the temp desk's calls at seven on a Sunday?

    What it is costing

    • How many candidate calls a week ring out unanswered?
    • What followed your last consultant who joined a competitor?
    • What could you produce if a phone-agreed rate were disputed?

    What would change

    • Which desk would you pilot first?
    • Where should a client's callback land when the consultant is out?
    • How quickly could a leaver's line reach their successor?

A recruitment agency's entire asset is relationships carried by phone, and most agencies let that asset live on numbers they do not own. Moving the line onto the phones consultants already carry keeps the speed of mobile and gives the agency back its book, its brand and its record.

The measure is simple: what stays when the next consultant leaves.
