    FINANCIAL ADVICE USE CASE

    Advice On the Move

Pensions advice is given at kitchen tables. An independent adviser spends the week in clients' homes and offices, talking people through the decisions of their lives — and doing it, more often than not, from a personal mobile between appointments.

The client sees an unfamiliar number; the firm sees nothing at all. This use case sets out what changes when the practice's line sits on the phone the adviser already carries.

    Solution Highlights

    • Every call carries the firm's identity
    • Advice calls captured for the file
    • Cover for holidays is a routing rule
    • One handset — no app, no second phone

    The Challenge

Advice is a regulated conversation, and much of it happens by phone. When those calls run over a personal mobile, they run outside the practice's systems: not presented under the firm's name, not captured for the file, and not covered when the adviser is with another client.

Clients notice the seams. A call from an unrecognised number goes unanswered; a question during the adviser's holiday goes nowhere; and a retiring adviser's clients discover the number they trusted for twenty years was never the firm's to keep.

    The Solution

Each adviser carries a business line on their own handset, delivered by eSIM. Calls and texts show the practice's number, so a client answering the phone sees the firm they trust rather than a mobile they do not know.

The line is a full extension of the practice's phone system, which is what the obligations need: calls route through the platform, where they are logged and can be recorded and archived to the same standard as the office lines. The adviser dials from the phone's own dialler — nothing to install, nothing to remember to open, no gap between how the call was made and how it was captured.

Availability becomes the practice's decision. An adviser in an annual review passes calls to a paraplanner or a colleague; a client with an urgent question reaches a person every time.

    What Changes

The first change is the client's experience. One recognisable number, answered by the practice whatever the diary says — which is what a worried client actually needs.

The second is the file. Phone conversations join the record like everything else, captured through the platform rather than lost to a handset, and retrievable when advice is reviewed.

The third is succession. The number a client has trusted for years belongs to the practice, so retirement or a sale hands over a relationship, not a goodbye.

    Advice On the Move

    Key Changes

    • Clients see one trusted number for the firm
    • Phone advice captured to the same standard
    • Holiday and review cover by routing
    • Client relationships survive succession

    Assessment

Nine questions about your own practice. The ones you can't answer are the ones worth looking into.

    How it works today

    • What number do clients see when an adviser rings from the road?
    • Which client calls happen outside your recorded lines?
    • What covers a client question during an adviser's holiday?

    What it is costing

    • How many advice conversations never reach the file?
    • How many clients hold an adviser's personal number?
    • What would succession look like for those relationships?

    What would change

    • What would you produce if a phone conversation were reviewed?
    • Which adviser or team would you pilot with?
    • What should out-of-hours routing do for a worried client?

Advice practices are built on trust carried in conversations, and too many of those conversations currently happen on phones the practice cannot present, cover or capture. Putting the firm's line on the handsets advisers already carry brings the phone into the practice without changing how anyone works.

For the client, nothing changes except that the firm always answers. That is the point.
