Where it All Began: How a Simple Question Changed Everything

Innovation Timeline (2005–2025)
- Andrew Silver meets Doug at a restaurant in Plano, TX; fundraising begins across the US and internationally.
- Company incorporated 30 September 2005 at Granite Park, operating from another start-up’s office.
- Original tagline: “Mobility for Enterprise” (still true today).
- Vision presented: “Any mobile phone, on any mobile network, connected to any PBX.”
- Foundational patents filed before the iPhone launch.
- CTIA trade show appearances (2006 & 2007) featuring tango dancers.
- 2007: Tango Networks improves Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) and corporate texting.
- Early team foundations grow; long-tenured employees join and remain (e.g., Lathan Lewis, Robert Barretto, Mark Sosebee, Mike Bishop, Andy & Ben Williams, Steve Tryon, Daren Broussard, Don Traister).
- Company culture takes root: Tangoween, Tangomas, and team events.
- First customer Sprint goes live with Sprint Mobile Integration.
- Ericsson collaborates to launch AT&T Office Direct and T-Mobile Office Connect.
- UK expansion with Everything Everywhere (EE) – “Freedom.”
- The Netherlands: KPN – “VAMO.”
- Partnership with Simetric Telecom under Gavin Sweet and John Murray.
- Subsequent merger brings teams together under Tango, launching the next phase as a global mobile operator for enterprise mobility.
